The French Academy prestigious and coveted “Goncourt Prize“ was attributed to French Mathias Enard thanks to his book "Compass" describing the horror of Syria under the attacks of the conflict.------------------------------------------------------------ “I learned that I was the Goncourt winner, at the very last moment, full of journalists, were crowding, and I had to run, by taking a taxi heading quickly to the famous restaurant “Drouant“. You know I used to write books before this one and they are part of my destiny. I always write and I will continue." Mathias Enard says------------------------------------------------------- My book is not scary as Bernard Pivot said, in this book it is a story of history, it is about love as the "Arabian Nights" meets Mathias Enard.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding Syria, that seems to be similar to the actual context of Mathias Enard's book, he explains " News has caught me up: The area, the Syrian people are suffering every day, thousands of dead. I lived in Syria, so I wrote this with my storytelling of what and how it is happening there. So I'm glad this book to be rewarded, having in mind the Syrian martyr in mind, has the violence and we have things to tell the side of the Mediterranean Sea and the Bosphorus." Source France Tv
