Cooperation EU-United States, under debate at the European Summit in Granada

Representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Interior of the European Union and the United States began two days of meetings this Thursday within the framework of the activities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).
The acting Spanish Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, valued the meeting as "an opportunity to advance cooperation between the EU and the United States, at a time when it is more necessary than ever." The objective of the meeting is to prepare the topics that will be addressed at the EU-US Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) ministerial meeting, scheduled for November 13 and 14 in Washington.
Among the issues they will address is joint support for Ukraine, the fight against organized crime and terrorism, or the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and its illicit uses. The general director of International Legal Cooperation and Human Rights, David Vilas, and the general director of International Relations and Immigration, Elena Garzón, chair the meeting on behalf of the EU, as Spain holds the Presidency of the Council.
Representatives from the Departments of Justice, State and Homeland Security attend on behalf of the United States; and delegates from the European Commission and agencies also attend on behalf of the EU.
